Generalised Zone Types
Myplan.ie GZT is a standardised composite of Local Authority zoning from individual Development Plans. The maps and underlying data represent a consistent zoning scheme across all local authorities, and complement (rather than replace) the existing statutory zoning used for each individual plan. Myplan.ie uses a ‘generalised zoning type’ to harmonise and standardise the zonings used and this allows for comparison across the country.

Since 2012 Planning Authorities have been requested to categorise each of the zones in their adopted land use plans into the GZT categorisation scheme and to submit this GZT information to the Department for incorporation into its web based planning information system, myplan.ie. Planning Authorities are requested to update the GZT and other data should a new land use plan be adopted or a variation be made to an existing land use plan which has zoning implications
