Altes, in der Amtlichen Vermessung noch heute gültiges Bezugssystem, welches 1903 festgelegt und eingeführt wurde. Das System umfasst die Definition eines Bezugsellipsoids (Bessel 1841), mit Lagerung (Position und Orientierung) im alten Fundamenalpunkt (alte Sternwarte Bern), die Transformation in CHTRS95 sowie die Schweizerische winkeltreue schiefachsige Zylinderprojektion (Swiss Grid). CH1903 legt auch das alte Gebrauchshöhensystem LN02 fest, welches als Ausgangshorizont die Höhe des "Repère Pierre du Niton" im Hafen von Genf mit dem Höhenwert 373.6 m verwendet.

Ancien système de référence encore en vigueur aujourd'hui pour la mensuration officielle, défini et introduit en 1903. Il englobe la définition d'un ellipsoïde de référence (Bessel 1841) positionné (origine et orientation) sur l'ancien point d'origine / fondamental (ancien observatoire astronomique de Berne). La transformation dans CHTRS95 et la projection cylindrique conforme à l'axe oblique («Swiss Grid») lui est associée. CH1903 définit également l'ancien système des altitudes usuelles utilisant le «Repère Pierre du Niton» dans la rade de Genève comme horizon de référence avec la valeur de: 373,6 m.

The old, still official reference system for cadastral surveying which was defined and introduced in 1903. The system comprises the definition of a reference ellipsoid (Bessel 1841) fixed in position and orientation to the old fundamental point (old observatory in Bern), the transformation in CHTRS95 and the Swiss oblique conformal cylinder projection ("Swiss Grid"). CH1903 also defines the old official height system for which the "Repère Pierre du Niton" in the port of Geneva serves as the point of origin with a height of 373.6 m.
