Purpose

A Avaliação de Impacte Ambiental ou "AIA" é um instrumento de carácter preventivo da política do ambiente, sustentado na realização de estudos e consultas, com efetiva participação pública e análise de possíveis alternativas, que tem por objeto a recolha de informação, identificação e previsão dos efeitos ambientais de determinados projetos, bem como a identificação e proposta de medidas que evitem, minimizem ou compensem esses efeitos, tendo em vista uma decisão sobre a viabilidade da execução de tais projetos e respetiva pós-avaliação.
