The State Environmental Monitoring - Groundwater quality monitoring
The spatial dataset concerns the groundwater quality monitoring, which is conducted as part of the water quality monitoring subsystem of the State Environmental Monitoring coordinated by the Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection. The purpose of groundwater quality monitoring is to provide information on the chemical status of groundwater, track its changes and indicate dangers at national level in order to manage groundwater and assess the effectiveness of taken protective measures. Monitoring research is carried out on three spatial scales: national, regional and local. National monitoring fulfills the requirements of the Water Framework Directive, which is carried out on the basis of the national measurement network covering all groundwater bodies distinguished in the country. Research on the chemical status of groundwater will be carried out as part of: diagnostic monitoring, operational monitoring. The results of tests and assessments carried out as part of groundwater quality monitoring are used to optimize activities related to the protection and management of groundwater resources, aimed at maintaining or achieving good groundwater status. As part of the dataset, only measurement results are published.

Source data comes from the CIEP file database, which is a copy of data on groundwater quality monitoring (the source database operates at Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute (PIG-PIB)). The data were transformed in accordance with INSPIRE model in subject of Environmental Monitoring Facilities (EF) in version of schema 4.0. Technical guidelines for EF subject are available in the specification D2.8.II / III.7 INSPIRE Data Specification on Environmental Monitoring Facilities - Technical Guidelines.
