The data "Economic division of forests by forest owners - Forest management areas" are adapted to the INSPIRE theme "Area management/restriction/regulation zones and reporting units". According to the Law of Forests, a management unit is a part of a forest management area that is, as a rule, adapted to the configuration of the terrain, the organizational needs of forest management and roads, and includes one or more forest areas for which, as a complete economic unit, a forest management plan is specially developed. The management unit is divided into departments and sections, and the boundaries of the areas of management units can be changed in the process of renewal and regular or extraordinary revision of the forest management plan with the approval of the ministry responsible for forestry. The layer shows the boundaries of the areas of management units in which forest owners' forests (private forests) are located. A section is the smallest variable unit of economic division of forests and forest lands within a department that is specially managed as a stand. Stands are separated into sections according to forest purpose, cultivation form, management method, development stage, tree species, age, management objective, mixture ratio and cover. Every 10 years, when revising forest management plans, the section boundaries may be changed according to the state of the stands. In addition to these data, under certain conditions, for each section it is possible to obtain additional descriptions for over 50 attributes such as: stand description, tree species found in the section with mixture ratio, stand mass by tree species, tree heights, stand age, section rotation, stand composition, forest purpose, etc. Position data are shown in the Croatian Terrestrial Reference System 1996 (HTRS96/TM). The above data is created, managed and published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia.

The source materials for the production of data on the economic division of forests of forest owners are based on the provisions of the Law of Forests, which regulates the system and method of management, management, use and disposal of forests and forest lands in the Republic of Croatia. They include forest management plans and forest management programs. All spatial data are based on cadastral plots. Data processing methods include the production of forest management plans and forest management programs, which are based on collected data on the state of forests and forest lands. The permitted data geometry includes polygons that represent the spatial coverage of each unit. Data collection standards are defined by legal provisions that prescribe the method of forest management and management.
