The 5x5 meter and 25x25 meter grids are defined as classified information inside the Norwegian territorial limit of 12 nautical miles. If a customer wants access to such data, the Norwegian Hydrographic Service can apply for permission from the Norwegian Armed Forces, on behalf of the customer. The application will normally be approved on the condition that the data is returned/destroyed within five years.

This dataset is organized as areas of 30X30 minutes, i.e. ENC D-cells, in ASCII files in EUREF89 datum and (most often) UTM zone 33 coordinates (source: https://www.kartverket.no/en/data/kartdataer/Marine-Geospatial-Data/Terrain-Models-of-the-Seabed/). The exceptions to the UTM33 deliveries are in the Hordaland county and in the Trondheim fjord, which are delivered in UTM zone 32. It is possible to obtain the datasets in geographical coordinates also, but at the present time only by direct contact to sjodata@kartverket.no. Statement

Bathymetric is modelled and compiled into terrain models, in cells of size 0.5 x 0.5 degrees (D-cells). Models with 1 or 2 meters resolution are compiled in cells of 0.25 x 0.25 degrees (EFGH-cells). The coastline is not integrated into the modelling process, therefore, some overlap with land may occur. In cases of overlapping data, priority is given based on resolution and the time of measurement. The terrain models are checked for step effects in the overlap zones between datasets and for regularities such as noise and spikes. Modelling is done in different resolutions. The standard resolutions are 1m, 2m, 5m, 10m, 25m, and 50m, which are made available to Mareano partners, while 5m, 25m, and 50m are also made available through Geonorge.
