Съгл. чл.6 от Директивата за наводненията, залетите територии пр наводнения с различна верояст за настъпване се определят за всеки от определените Райони със значителен потенциален риск от наводнения (РЗПРН). За РЗПРН р. Дунав определянето на зоните за заплаха от наводнения за разлчините вероятности е извършено по проект "DanubeFloodrisk" (2012),по хармонизирани методи и данни. Границите на заливане за РЗПРН на останалите реки в България са определени съгласно утвърдена национална методология.
