<a href=" https://stat.fi/en/statistics/documentation/tyokay">Documentation of statistics Employment - Statistics Finland</a>The data on population are obtained from the Population Information System of The Digital and Population data services Agency according to the situation at the turn of the year (1.1.2021).

In total, data from over 30 different registers or data sets are used in the production of employment statistics. The most important of these are:

<li>Population Information System (Digital and Population Data Services Agency) </li>

<li>Incomes Register</li>

<li>the register of job seekers of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment </li>

<li>the pension registers of the Social Insurance Institution of Finland and the Finnish Centre for Pensions</li>

<li>different student registers </li>

<li>Conscripts Register of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.</li>

<li>Statistics Finland's Register of Enterprises and Establishments and the Register of Public Corporations.</li>

<li>Statistics Finland’s Register of Completed Education and Degrees</li>

</ul>

In addition to registers, some questionnaire inquiries are made:

<ul>

<li>inquiry on establishments of persons working in multi-establishment enterprises </li>

<li>collection of data on occupations from unorganised enterprises</li>

</ul><span>Source data arriving are checked technically. The frequencies of the data are compared with earlier years and if necessary, it is checked from the data supplier whether changes have taken place in the statistical topic, data content or classifications.</span>The location of persons is determined by the coordinates of the building they live in. The location of people living in institutions is determined by the coordinates of the institution, if known. However, people living in institutions without coordinates, Finnish nationals living temporarily abroad and people whose location in the municipality is unknown are coded as " <span>FI_unallocated</span>".  Approximately one per cent of the population does not have coordinates on the annual level. Statistic Act 280/2004 Article 10

When combining, storing, disposing of and otherwise processing data collected for statistical purposes, care must be taken to ensure that no one's private life or personal data protection or business secrets are jeopardized. The authority that prepares the statistics must ensure that the data is properly protected in all stages of statistical production as separately stipulated.

In Statistics Finland, data is protected from unauthorized use in accordance with the data protection regulations issued by Statistics Finland.<span>Confidentiality - 1 km² grid data: Information on the confidentiality treatment of grid data, as requested by Annex III to Reg. 2018/1799.</span>
