Datová sada byla odvozena z databáze Českého hydrometeorologického ústavu pro podzemní a z databází podniků povodí pro povrchové vody. Popisná data byla doplněna na základě informací českého hydrometeorologického ústavu, Agentury ochrany přírody a krajiny České republiky a Výzkumného ústavu vodohospodářského T. G. Masaryka, v.v.i., Prostorová i popisná složka byla upravena podle směrných dokumentů a požadavků Evropské komise na reporting Plánů oblastí povodí v roce 2016.
