Automatic weather station (AWS) daily observations

RMI operates a network of 17 automatic weather stations in Belgium. These weather stations report meteorological paramaters such as air pressure, temperature, relative humidity, precipitation (quantity,duration), wind (speed, gust, direction), sunshine duration, shortwave solar radiation and infrared radiation every 10 minutes.

Daily AWS data are computed from the 10-min observations.

Statement

Daily AWS data are computed from the RMI 10-min AWS observations available during the considered day from 00:00 to 24:00 UTC. The daily data correspond to the sum of the 10-min observations in case of cumulative parameters (e.g., precipitation quantity, sunshine duration) and otherwise to the average, minimum of maximum of the 10-min observations. The tolerance against missing values is 10%, i.e., no daily values are computed when more than 10% of the expected 10-min observations are missing.
