Due to the specific digital processing they are metrically more accurate than common aerial photographs. Orthophotos are very valuable as reference information and also, for instance, for surveying parcels. They were partially renewed through the years, as the period for renewal of the entire territory of Bulgaria is 3 years.The orthophotos are produced on the basis of digital images processing, which are captured by specific airplane cameras and satellite cameras. GSD is 25 cm for 2023 and 40 cm before this year. Ортофотокартата представлява съвкупност от дигитални въздушни снимки, които са коригирани спрямо изкривяване на обектива, топографски релеф и наклона на камерата. Поради специфичната цифрова обработка, те са по- точни от обикновените въздушни снимки. Ортофотокартата е многостойностна като информация за терена и за наземни измервания на площи. Подновява се частично през годините, като периодът за подновяване на цялата територия на България е 3 годишен. Произведена е на база цифрова обработка на изображения от самолетно и сателитно заснемане. Разделителната способност е 25 см за 2023 и 40 см. преди тази година.
