Obavljanje meteoroloških motrenja, okvirom kojih se obavlja i radarsko motrenje vremena, arhiviranje, kontrolu i distribuciju podataka DHMZ obavlja na nacionalnoj razini prema Zakonu o ustrojstvu i djelokrugu ministarstva i drugih središnjih tjela državne uprave i prema Zakonu o obavljanju hidrometeorološke djelatnosti s ciljem zaštite ljudskih života, imovine te proučavanja klimatskih promjena i izvršavanja obaveza međunarodne razmjene podataka. Obavlja se mjerenje intenziteta radarske refleksivnosti meteoroloških ciljeva i bilježe se izvedeni podaci intenziteta oborine, naoblake i brzine vjetra. Prikaz u prostoru 250 km oko radara ili kompozit više rada na području RH. Kontrola kvalitete podataka je osigurana kroz provjere unutar radnog procesa radarskih mjerenja ( Iris Product &Display manual, Iris radar user manual ver 8.13.3) meteoroloških pojava i usporedbom s drugim dostupnim izvorima sukladno naputcima za meteorološka motrenja Svjetske meteorološke organizacije, DHMZ-a i Operativnim programom za razmjenu podataka meteoroloških radara (Operational Programme for the Exchange of the weather Radar) od 1999. g.
