Its main objective is that of dividing the 15+ year old population into three mutually exclusive groups, the employed, unemployed and inactive and, hence provides descriptive information on each of these groups. The LFS is deemed to be a reliable survey. This is achieved through the use of high methodological standards, a continuous monitoring of information being collected and through the adoption of a number of regulations, primarily EC 577/1998, which outline the main elements of this survey across all Member States. Missing values are due to be fact that data at district level is derived from a number of readings ranging between 20 and 49, thus data has to be treated with caution.
